THE MARQUETTE METHOD
Classes in the Marquette Method of Natural Family Planning with
Julie Clark, BSN, RN
ABOUT THE MARQUETTE METHOD
The Marquette Method is a type of natural family planning (NFP). Couples observe and track signs of fertility. Equipped with that information, couples can then change their behaviors to avoid or achieve pregnancy.
The Marquette Method uses two main indicators to determine fertility: cervical mucus observations and urinary hormone measurements. One or both signs are tracked based on user preference, and then combined with a simple protocol to determine the days pregnancy is possible.
LOVE YOUR SPOUSE FULLY
Using Natural Family Planning allows you to give yourself fully to your spouse without placing any barriers, whether chemical or physical, between each other. This means your love is authentic and respects the truth of the human person.
AVOID PREGNANCY EFFECTIVELY
The Marquette Method has demonstrated high effectiveness for couples avoiding pregnancy in several studies, with typical use effectiveness over 98% among women in regular cycles.
HELP ACHIEVE PREGNANCY
Charting your fertility will help you identify your most fertile days, and can reduce the time to achieve pregnancy, or help you time conception better. Knowing your peak in fertility can even give you a better estimate of your due date.
KNOW YOUR BODY AND YOUR HEALTH
Healthy cycles are a strong indicator of overall health. Some health issues can be identified in charting, and Marquette instructors, as healthcare professionals, are able to give you recommendations within their scope of practice and guide you on where to find medical treatment that respects your fertility.
BREASTFEEDING PROTOCOLS
Couples who are expecting or have recently had a baby and would like to avoid pregnancy will learn how to apply the Marquette Method breastfeeding protocols. Additional follow-up is offered to breastfeeding women through 6 cycles of charting.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION
Couples who require a certificate of completion for marriage preparation can schedule a second session with their instructor to look more closely at special circumstances that may arise through the reproductive years and discuss the benefits of natural family planning within marriage.
A certificate of completion will be provided after the couple has completed 2 follow-up meetings.
INTRODUCTION TO THE MARQUETTE METHOD
New users of the Marquette Method will learn the basics of fertility, natural family planning, and how to apply the Marquette Method in regular cycles to either avoid or achieve pregnancy.
CONTINUED FOLLOW-UP
After your introductory class, you may contact your instructor for follow-up as needed for a minimum of one full year. This can be especially beneficial as you move from the theory of NFP while engaged, to the practice of NFP while married, or during postpartum or perimenopause transitions. After one year, you have the option to continue services with ongoing consultation for an additional fee.

JULIE CLARK, BSN, RN, MMCP
Julie graduated from University of Michigan in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as an RN in an inpatient cardiovascular unit before becoming a stay at home wife and mom. During engagement, Julie and her husband, Matt, learned the symptothermal method of NFP, but transitioned to the Marquette Method (MM) postpartum. The ability to use objective hormone testing as a biological indicator removed the anxiety Julie once felt related to interpreting more subjective fertility indicators. Upon learning the MM, Julie felt drawn to become an instructor to help couples learn about the gift of their fertility and the MM. Julie loves that the MM offers protocols to enable couples across the reproductive continuum to use the MM with confidence. Julie is passionate about the beauty and benefits of NFP - marital, physical, and spiritual - and has been teaching since 2022. In her free time, Julie enjoys being outdoors with her family, baking sourdough bread, and home brewing kombucha.
