All Marquette Method instructors are licensed healthcare professionals, and have completed the teacher training program through the Marquette University Institute for Natural Family Planning.
AMANDA KHANJIAN, BSN, RN
Amanda graduated with a BSN from DeSales University in Center Valley PA in May of 2013. She has been an emergency room nurse for almost six years, and recently became charge nurse. She is in the final stages of the Marquette Teacher Training Program to receive her certificate of completion. Amanda owns and operates NFP Journey LLC and, alongside her husband, they are advocates for an essential oils company. Amanda and her husband John, a personal trainer and mobile gym owner, have been married since October of 2017. They are joyfully welcomed their first child in summer of 2019. Amanda loves traveling (especially if the beach is the destination), CrossFit, and anything that has to do with animals!

ASHLEY KLEIN, BSN, RN
Ashley has been passionate about the Marquette Method since having her first child. Ashley and her husband, Justin, have been married since 2017, and the ease of use and confidence Marquette Method brings their family is unmatchable. She is currently completing the teacher training practicum to receive her certificate of completion for the Marquette Method. As a practicing RN for 5 years at Sparrow hospital in Lansing, Michigan and as a Clinical Instructor for Nursing Students, Ashley advocates for people of all different realms. She is trained in 16 different units as she works on the Float Team, specializing in Neurology, Cardiac, and Respiratory care. Ashley enjoys craft beer, researching hot topics, and hosting dinner parties for friends and family.

KATHRYN (KATE) ELENCHIN, CRNA
Kate works as a nurse anesthetist in Southern Tier, NY, and has been teaching the Marquette Method with her certificate of completion from 2016. She is a speaker and preceptor at FACTS (Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science), where she helps to educate medical students and healthcare professionals about fertility awareness. Kate is also a member of the chastity and NFP committee in the diocese of Erie, PA. Kate has personally used the Creighton model of NFP, and is trained in the sympto-thermal method as well. She has been greatly influenced by Humanae Vitae and has drawn inspiration from that encyclical to talk with engaged couples and teach NFP. She enjoys being a wife and mom in a rural community, where biking the country roads, golfing, and sharing her homemade wine bring her great joy.

LISA GESTERLING, BSN, RN
Lisa holds a BA Anthropology, and after serving as a missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students, she returned to school to earn her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. She fell in love with women's health and childbirth, and she is currently a student Nurse Midwife and Women's Health Nurse Practitioner at Georgetown University, as well as a student ambassador for FACTS (Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science). As a nurse, Lisa has worked in float pool, cardiac, and postpartum, and she currently works in an inpatient observation unit. Lisa is certified in Standard Days Method and is finishing the client practicum requirement for Marquette Method certification. Lisa and her husband have been married since 2006 and have four wonderful children. After years of using other NFP methods, they learned about Marquette and were attracted to the method's objectivity and evidence-based algorithms. When she's not studying for graduate school or teaching Marquette, she likes to paddle-board, find family-friendly breweries in northern Colorado, and watch Seinfeld reruns with her husband.

BRITTANY KUDRNA, DNP, FNP-C
Brittany graduated with her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire to become a family nurse practitioner in 2015. She loves to incorporate fertility education and natural health practices into patient care. Brittany is a personal and professional witness of the physical and spiritual benefits of NFP and the Marquette Method: she and her spouse learned vital health information to help manage PCOS and naturally achieve three pregnancies. This has given Brittany a special interest in helping women with PCOS. Brittany and her husband, Collin, have been married for seven years and are blessed with three beautiful children. They love to spend their time together as a family doing anything active and outdoors: hunting, fishing, golfing, at the lake or their family farm. Most importantly, they love growing closer to Jesus, and enjoying the simple things in life through the eyes of their children.

MARIA MEYERS, MD
Maria received her medical training and degree at Louisiana State University Medical School in 1997 and completed the Marquette Method training through Marquette University in 2014. After long-time use of the sympto-thermal method of NFP, and then Marquette, she was attracted to the objectivity of a hormonal monitoring device to determine fertility, and she loves the spiritual and holistic benefits of NFP. Maria works as a pediatrician at a federally funded health department as well as an urgent care for children. In her profession, she teaches chastity education to high-risk youth and finds this difficult at times but rewarding. Maria has been married to her aviation artist husband since 1998 and they have four great children, with very different personalities. Maria loves walking their family dog, Chico, kayaking, and trying new recipes.

KRISTI OLSON, MD
Iron Mountain, MI
Kristi is a family practice physician, with a background in OB and pediatric care. She is currently completing the teacher training practicum to receive her certificate of completion for the Marquette Method. She and her husband have been married since 2000 and celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on New Year's Day, 2020. They have two children, and Kristi loves watching their kids do things they are passionate about. Kristi enjoys spending time in the beauty of creation while fishing, hunting and camping, and she is most passionate about her love for God, family, and practicing medicine.

MONICA RINCON, BSc, MSc
Calgary, AB (Canada)
Monica holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in medical laboratory technologies and a master's in microbiology from her studies in 1997 in Colombia, S.A. She has worked as a Licensed Public health microbiologist at San Diego Public Health in California, and was certified as a natural family planning teacher from the Diocese of San Diego in 2003, and a Billings Ovulation Method teacher in Alberta in 2012. She completed a Master of Science from the University of Calgary from the Department of Ecosystem and Public Health in 2019. She is currently completing the teacher training practicum to receive her certificate of completion for the Marquette Method. Since 2017, she has been working as a medical microbiology instructor at the University of Lethbridge. She teaches The Marquette model at Saint Michael and Mother of the Redeemer Catholic churches in Spanish. Monica and her husband have been married since 1999. They live in Calgary with their three daughters, and have participated as NFP speakers at the engaged encounter weekend retreat in Calgary from 2010 to 2018.

ANDREA SCHANANDORE, BSN, RN
Andrea graduated with a BSN from North Dakota State University in 2010. She has worked inpatient oncology and currently works as an inpatient observation med/surg nurse. She started teaching the Marquette Method in 2015 and received her certificate of competition as an instructor in 2017. Andrea and her husband Tom have been married since 2011 and have three children. As a testament to the effectiveness of natural pregnancy spacing, all three children have birthdays in December only one week apart! Andrea enjoys spending time with family and friends, and has an affinity for the great outdoors, whether it be gardening or on the farm.

SARA SHAFFER, CNM
Sara has been a registered nurse for more than 20 years, and has been a Certified Nurse Midwife for 14 of those years. She is retired from the U.S. Navy Nurse Corps, 20 years of active duty service. Sara's professional achievements also include certification as an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant. She is a speaker for FACTS (Fertility Appreciation Collaborative to Teach the Science), where she shares information with healthcare providers and medical students on fertility awareness to improve access and education on women's health. Sara and her husband have been happily married for 18 years, and have 5 beautiful children.

LAURA SPARLING, BSN, RN
Port Huron, MI
Laura completed her bachelor's degree in nursing from Eastern Michigan University in 2008, and has since worked in oncology, home care, and hospice, and has volunteered at a local pregnancy resource center. She has also shared her nursing knowledge through teaching clinical nursing students at a local community college. Laura is currently completing the practicum portion of the Marquette Method teacher training through Marquette University, and is certified in the Standard Days Method as well. Laura and her husband, Josh, live in Port Huron, Michigan with their four children. Converts to the Catholic faith in 2009, they knew very little about God's plan for marriage, until another couple shared the truth about married love with them, which sparked a passion for diving deeper into Humanae Vitae, Theology of the Body, and other texts and books on faith. Laura also enjoys her favorite pastimes of spending time with her family, cooking, camping, and playing cards.

LAUREN VITALE, BSN, RN
Lauren has been teaching the Marquette Method since 2017, and was drawn to teach the method after her own experience using NFP while breastfeeding. She has worked as a pediatric burn nurse at Children's Hospital of Michigan in Detroit, and now runs her home as the CEO when not teaching couples about their fertility. Lauren enjoys black coffee, her husband's home-brewed beer, and impassioned conversations about Pope St. John Paul II and his writings. Lauren and her husband Giovanni have been married since 2008 and have four remarkably well-rounded children.

KELSEY VUKOV, MS, RN
Kelsey is a Master's prepared Registered Nurse with a passion for women’s health education. She began her nursing career working as a bedside nurse at Mayo Clinic. Later, Kelsey and her husband moved to New York City where she began graduate school at New York University, pursuing a Masters in Nursing Education. She worked concurrently as a Patient Educator at Hospital for Special Surgery where she facilitated patient education sessions as well as coordinated a nursing community education outreach program and research study. She currently works for Kaplan as a nursing instructor. She completed the certificate of completion as a Marquette Method NFP Teacher in 2019. She provides breastfeeding and lactation support in her community. With a passion for breastfeeding support, she has a special interest in assisting postpartum couples on their NFP journey. Kelsey lives in Evanston, IL with her husband and two children where they enjoy living just few blocks from Lake Michigan.
