Rosemary Mackenzie, BSN, RN, CEN

Grand Rapids, MI

Rose began her professional nursing career in the emergency department of a community-based hospital in 2011. Both Rose and the hospital have since advanced, as the hospital has become a Level 2 Trauma and Comprehensive Stroke Center and, and Rose a Clinical Coordinator. In 2015, Rose and her husband, John, became Sympto-Thermal Method NFP Instructors. They contributed to the development of the local NFP resource website, grnfp.org. Personally, she sees many benefits of NFP on her marriage and reproductive health. Understanding her signs and symptoms of fertility allowed her to discover an issue with low progesterone during pregnancy. With this knowledge, she sought out a NaPro physician to treat her low progesterone. After the birth of their third child, Rose and John came to know, and appreciate, the objective nature of the postpartum protocol of the Marquette Method. Along with being certified to teach the Sympto-thermal Method, Rose also became a Standard Day Method Instructor and Marquette Instructor in 2020. Her passion is assisting couples in their transition back to fertility after childbirth. Her next professional goal is to become a lactation consultant and eventually a certified nurse-midwife. Rose grew up on her parent’s family-owned dairy farm and admits she will always be a farm girl at heart but has come to enjoy some aspects of city-living such as a plethora of great restaurants. She loves ice cream, the outdoors, and traveling.

Julie graduated from University of Michigan in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. She worked as an RN in cardiac critical care before becoming a stay at home wife and mother. Julie began training to become a Marquette Method (MM) NFP instructor in 2021. Julie and her husband, Matt, learned the symptothermal method of NFP during engagement. During postpartum, Julie switched to the MM, and instantly fell in love with this evidence-based, highly effective method of NFP. The ability to use objective hormone testing as a biological indicator completely removed the anxiety Julie once felt related to reading more subjective fertility indicators. Julie loves that there are protocols tailored to women of many different reproductive stages to enable them to use the MM with confidence. Almost immediately after learning the MM, Julie felt drawn to share it with other couples. Julie is passionate about the beauty and benefits of NFP - marital, physical, and spiritual - and is excited to help couples learn about their fertility and the MM. In her free time, Julie enjoys cooking, learning about NFP/Nursing topics, and her favorite pastime is to be outdoors with her family: hiking, gardening, sitting around the campfire, and watching her daughter chase the free range chickens.
